Video Tutorials

Video tutorials are a great way to provide additional learning support for individuals. We currently provide two types of video tutorials on this site.

1. Statistical Concepts

There are 13 statistical concept video tutorials that correspond to each chapter of our textbook. These videos focus on the more difficult concepts covered in each chapter. These include:

    • Understanding levels of measurement
    • Creating frequency tables by hand
    • Measures of location (mean, median, mode)
    • Basics of probability
    • The normal distribution
    • The sampling distribution of the mean
    • Understanding hypothesis testing for means
    • Confidence intervals for the mean
    • The independent sample t-test
    • An overview of analysis of variance (ANOVA)
    • Pearson’s correlation
    • Pearson’s chi-square test of independence

2. SPSS Software

In additional to the statistical concept tutorials, there are 13 SPSS video tutorials that correspond with each chapter of the text. These include:

    • Creating a dataset
    • Frequency tables, cross-tabs, pie charts, histograms, and boxplots
    • Measures of central tendency, dispersion, and shape
    • Recoding variables
    • Calculating z-scores
    • Splitting a dataset and selecting cases
    • Merging datasets
    • Confidence intervals
    • Single sample t-test
    • Independent and paired sample t-test
    • One way analysis of variance (ANOVA)
    • Correlation and regression
    • Chi-square test of independence
